It floats to the top. To get it to stay down you would have to bury it in gravel.

No longer Disappointing
Bit disappointing as I expected this to open and close with the air bubble but no it just stays open all the time. I have reduced air flow but no joy. It does look nice though. Update, I don’t know how but its started working properly and opening and closing.

This product is not safe for fish as all of the glitter that is in the chest comes off and floats in the water.It is very pretty and it does work but I would not recommend this for live fish.

Many other reviewers wrote about this chest not staying on the bottom of the tank. There is a small black disc that comes with the chest that is made to affix to one of the stems on the bottom of it. There are no instructions to indicate what it is for and people could possibly discard it with the packaging. With the disc on the bottom I just wiggle the chest back and forth to make sure it is lodged firmly in the gravel. It also helps if you bury the air hose in the gravel. I’ve had no problems with this and it is a great feature in my son’s tank.

I agree it floats and the little piece to hold it open was broken and also the glitter floats in the water to not good for the fish…

Good for decoration but won’t stay on the bottom. Is really light. Would not buy again.
